Pro Tip

Access via Fraser Highway and park in the ample lot; ask staff for a honey tasting flight and tips on reviving crystallized honey

Surrey’s own Honeybee Centre acts as a fun and exciting hub for honeybee education. And there’s a lot to learn, from how the bees live, work and produce their honey, to the important role they play on a grander scale. Bees, who pollinate a third of the food consumed by humans, play a vital role in sustaining earth’s ecosystems. These little guys are more than just a cute, fuzzy face; they’re the guardians of the whole food chain! The Honeybee Centre is not only the place to get your honey but also houses a beekeeping farm and a honey production site, as well as a dedicated site to “bee” informed on all matters of bees and honey. The Honeybee Centre provides an educational hub for honeybee education. Take a Honey Extraction Workshop (check the website for dates and times) with your family and learn all about bees and the important role they play in our lives. Learn about how honey is made, where honey comes from and how it gets from the hive to the jar! AND… taste raw honey from the frame. Watch as honey from the local Community Bee Garden hives is uncapped by hand and extracted from the comb. Taste honey fresh from the hive and then watch it being bottled.

Editorial Review

Tucked off Fraser Highway in Surrey, Honeybee Centre feels like a small, sunlit museum for anyone obsessed with bees and honey. The main shop opens onto a courtyard where kids paint rocks and families watch an enclosed observation hive doing its tiny, furious work. Shelves sag with jars — clover, wildflower and inventive blends like cocoa-infused clover — plus beeswax candles, propolis and handcrafted soaps. There’s a modest bistro for brunch and occasional high-tea services; reserve ahead for weekend mid-morning service. Staff move with the slow confidence of people who keep hives, ready to explain queen succession or how to revive crystallized honey. Locals come for supplies, therapists of taste for novelty jars and school groups come with notebooks and wide eyes. For visitors from the city, it’s a rare, tactile link to pollinators and regional producers — part gift shop, part classroom, part community hub where sweet commerce meets real stewardship of the landscape.
