The greens can be surprisingly true when drainage holds, though winter brings mud under the trees and cart-path-only days. The clubhouse is low-key but memorable: a hefty bacon-and-cheese burger that locals swear by and a compact pro shop that runs the show. Service can be prickly at times and marshalls are often absent, so pace of play is a community responsibility. Locals treat it as a reliable, affordable alternative to private clubs; visitors get a taste of real Surrey golf rather than polished resort theater. It’s not pretty all year, but when the course is right, it’s a solid, playable test with character and value.
